Stan Larwa

Stan Larwa

Stan worked 30 years for Cummins Engine, Inc. where he was the plant gage engineer and supervised the gage lab. He programmed CMM and became an expert in GD&T. Stan became a Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt and served as a Master Black Belt for three years. Stan served in US Navy as an electronics technician first class for 9 years. Followed by 3 years working for Air Gage Co . HE also worked in the gaging business at General Electric managing the ICES shop for 2 years.

Stan really enjoys helping belts, training classes, helping the business improve. Stan has become an expert in the tools available in Six Sigma (6S) help to identify issues and make the invisible become visible. He has lead 14 projects in 6S saving $10M and helped 352 belts get their projects completed. Belts have sought his help on all kinds of issues. Projects ranged from advanced manufacturing issues to HR issues. The methodology is the same — the tools used to solve the issues may be different. While 6S is for more difficult issues that take longer time frames to solve, the tools can be used for everyday projects.

Stan promotes A3 thinking to address issues that don’t take months to fix. A3 thinking allows the business to see the issue on one piece of paper. Upper management needs to see the issue and the countermeasures so it can support the activity and make the business stronger. A3 also allows the business to see what is not working, make the necessary changes, and see the results. Stan is driven by seeing processes improve and his goal is to see business’s become the best they can be.
